# What is Zonr?

Every year too many workers are killed or injured through unnecessary contact with plant and machinery on construction sites and beyond. Zonr provides a dynamic virtual barrier intended to warn workers and plant operators of incursions into safety exclusion zones.

### Zonr Plant Proximity Solution

Zonr has been designed and built using [Pathfindr’s](https://pathfindr.io/) technology expertise in collaboration with rail maintenance experts. The solution uses ultra-wideband (UWB) signals to create a virtual barrier around dangerous plant machinery.

Both the plant operator and the worker are alerted as soon as an incursion occurs.

### Simple to install, easier to operate

The Zonr plant proximity safety solution is super simple to install and even easier to operate.

The Base and any Sensors are attached to the plant and then synced using a mobile phone. Then any Zonr wearable device will trigger an incursion alert – warning both the plant operator and the worker.

Incursion data is uploaded from the Base every 4 hours when connected to power and every 12 hours when not connected to power.

## Zonr Hardware

### Zonr Base

The Zonr Base is placed within the cab of the plant. This provides audible and visual alerts to the operator if an incursion takes place. The operator also controls the system allowing them to authorise incursions in exceptional circumstances.

### Zonr Sensor

Sensors provide extensions of the exclusion zone, useful for large plant machinery. The Zonr Sensor detects nearby Zonr Tags, and if they are too close, i.e. within the preconfigured exclusion zone, the Zonr Sensor alerts the Zonr Base unit and the Tag wearer. Sensors are easily attached with their magnetic fittings.

### Zonr Tag

The Zonr Tag alerts the wearer by audible and vibration alert to the exclusion zone breach, encouraging them to move away from danger. The alert stops when the wearer leaves the exclusion zone.

**NOTE:** Both the Base and the Tag use removable rubber covers as part of their physical protection. These should always be correctly fitted during use.

### Machine Controller (MC) Tag

The Machine Controller Tag allows an individual other than the Plant Operator to control the functions of the system, such as enabling Safe Mode and approving individuals to enter the exclusion zone.
